Alexander J. Goetting
graduated magna cum
laude
from Baylor
University with a BBA in Accounting and earned his Juris Doctorate
from the University of Texas School of Law. While in law
school, Mr. Goetting was a teaching assistant for UT’s Financial
Methods for Lawyers

class, a staff editor for the Texas
Journal of Oil, Gas, and Energy Law,
and the recipient of a Dean’s
Achievement Award

for Outstanding Student in Negotiation.

After
graduating from law school, Mr. Goetting worked for Grant Thornton
LLP as a Transfer Pricing Associate in the firm’s International Tax
Services group. Looking to further develop his trial advocacy
skills, Mr. Goetting then went to work as an Assistant City Attorney
for the City of Houston where he prosecuted a wide variety of cases
under state law and city ordinances. In addition to prosecuting
criminal cases, Mr. Goetting also represented the City of Houston in
civil administrative matters, most notably in Commercial
Establishment Sound Permit Revocation Hearings. While at the
City Attorney’s Office, Mr. Goetting received the 2023 Edward
A. Cazares Award

for excellence and professionalism in municipal law.

Mr.
Goetting joined Henneman Rau Kirklin & Smith in 2024, where his
practice focuses on commercial litigation and securities arbitration.
